February 13, 1934 - May 20, 2023
Columbia, South Carolina - Ina Thomas Minter passed peacefully on May 20, 2023, in Florence, SC-where Ina had spent the last four years living at The Manor with her twin sister Eva. Born in Turbeville, SC on February 13, 1934, she married her husband Burchell Barnes Minter on January 10, 1954.
Ina had a deep love for gardening and found joy in taking care of her colorful yard. Ina was an active member of Greenlawn Baptist Church, where she served for many years on various committees including the church's beautification committee lending her green thumb to the Lord's landscape. When she wasn't tending to her garden, Ina and her daughter Pam could be found in the stands cheering on the Gamecocks women's basketball team. One of Ina's cherished companions was her cat, Brie, and as she would tell you Brie was "almost human."
Her surviving family members will forever treasure Ina's memory and spirit. She leaves behind her children Gary (Cynthia) Minter and Pamela (Mike) Leonard; Granddaughter Leslie (David Stringer) Leonard; Twin sister Eva Mull; Brother David (Linda) Thomas.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of fifty-two years Burchell Barnes Minter; siblings Muryl Lane, Earl Thomas, Paul Thomas, and James Thomas; parents Clark and Lottie Thomas; beloved cat Brie.
The family sends their sincere thanks for the excellent care Ina received from The Manor and the compassionate care provided by McLeod Hospice House during her final days.
A service to celebrate Ina's life will be held on Friday, May 26th at 3:00 PM at Greenlawn Baptist Church followed by a graveside service. The family will receive visitors prior to the service starting at 1:30 PM at the Church. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects. To honor Ina's passion for gardening, the family welcomes attendees to wear colorful attire and bring flower cuttings from their garden to create a vibrant atmosphere that mirrors the blossoms Ina adored. In remembrance of Ina's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Greenlawn Baptist Church or McLeod Hospice House.
