| Notes |
- 1881 census (indexed as MINTON by ancestry.com): at 11 Chalgrove Road, St John Hackney, London, Ernest A (27, coachman), Lydia (25), Ellen (3) and William E (1).
June 1886: labourer of 4 Osterley Road, Stoke Newington.
1891 census: at 19 Nevill Road, Stoke Newington, London, Ernest A (37, painter's labourer), Lydia (35), Ellen (13) and William (11).
November 1889: a labourer of 13 Glading Road, Stoke Newington.
1901 census (indexed as MENTER by ancestry.com): at 2 Olinda Road, Hackney, London, Ernest A (widower, 48, painter's labourer) and Elsie M (daughter, 2, born Hackney). Elsie may have been the Elsie May whose birth was registered in Q2 1898 at Edmonton (3a/339). Could she have been Ernest's daughter Ellen's child?.
Whoever was Elsie's mother, it appears that at the time of the 1911 census, Elsie was a pupil at a school (Row Hill?) in Chertsey, Surrey . Her age is shown as 13 and her birthplace as Stamford Hill, London (which is in the Hackney area). Elsie would by 1911 be an orphan, regardless of whether her mother was Lydia (Carter), who died in 1900, or Ellen Rhoda Minter.
Lacking any further indication on Elsie's parentage, I'm including her as Ernest Albert's daughter.
