From findagrave.com: THE MARTINSVILLE DAILY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Mon., Feb. 17, 1936, p. 8, col. 5: (edited) William Daniel Clift, 70, died Sunday afternoon at a local hospital, following a brief illness. Death was attributed to pneumonia and complications. Funeral services are being conducted at Broad Street Christian Church this afternoon (Monday). Burial to be in Oakwood Cemetery, with members of Martinsville Council, J.O.U.A.M., in charge. Surviving are his wife and the following children: Leslie Clift, Roanoke; G. Dewey Clift, Northfork, W. Va.; J. D., R. J., Frank Clift, all of this city; Mrs. James W. Price, Princeton, Mo.; Mrs. Ella Boaz and Mrs. G. E. Turner, both of this city, and three brothers, G. W. , J. H., and J. J. Clift, all of Martinsville, and two sisters, W. R. Robertson and Miss Lillie Clift, Charlotte, N.C.
