  Notes	It seems very likely that with Gertrude Alice WEEDON, Robert was the father of William Joseph Minter who was born on 15 March 1915 at 59 Blandford Road, Beckenham. William's birth certificate gives the following information: Father: Robert William MInter, a carrier's carman Mother: Gertrude Alice Weedon, a domestic servant Informants: R W Minter, father, 9 Green Lane, Penge; G A Weedon, mother, 9 Green Lane, Penge. This information ties in well with Robert and Gertrude's story prior to 1915: - in the 1911 census Robert was living with his parents at 77 Parish Lane, Penge which is literally just round the corner from 9 Green Lane. Robert's occupation was carrier's carman - at the same census, 1911, Gertrude (18, born Penge) was a servant at 87 Ridsdale Road, Anerley which is a mile or so from Green Lane. Although Robert married in 1918 and appears in the 1921 census (see below), William Joseph wasn't with him. Gertrude appears to have married Charles E LOWE in Q2 1916 (Lewisham 1d/2261). She was in the 1921 census as Gertrude Alice LOWE (wife, 28y 7m, married, born Penge) with 5 children all surnamed LOWE: Robert Edward (8y 1m, born Farnborough, Kent, whole time school), Joseph William (6y 5m, born Beckenham, whole time school), Charles Albert (4y 6m, born Sydenham, Kent), Gertrude Frances (3y 1m, born Sydenham, Kent) and Alice May (1y 9m, born Sydenham, Kent). The last three of these children were registered as LOWE but Robert Edward was registered as WEEDON (Q2 1913 Bromley 2a/1164) and Joseph William was almost certainly the William Joseph MINTER who was registered in Q2 1915, Bromley 2a/1024. The census page notes that Gertrude's husband is in St Johns Hospital, Lewisham. So although it isn't 100% definite, William Joseph Minter was probably Robert William Minter's illegitimate son. I've put a copy of the latter's birth certificate on Robert William's page on Minter Exchange. 1921 census: at 22 Argyle Road, Penge, Surrey (all MINTER), Robert (head, 28y 6m, married, born Beckenham, painter with Wills of South Norwood), Jane (wife, 23y 4m, born Walworth, home duties), Lucy (daughter, 2y 8m, born Penge) and Violet (daughter, 1y 3m, born Penge). 1939 Register: at 6 Queen Adelaide Road, Penge, Kent Minter, Robert W born 19 Dec 1891 *, married, general labourer - unemployed Minter, Jane born 3 Feb 1898, married, unpaid domestic duties --- 1 closed record --- Minter, John F born 7 Apr 1925, single, junior assistant Minter, later MANZI, Marie born 5 May 1929, at school --- 1 closed record --- * a year out - registered in Q1 1891 so probably born in 1890.
