  Notes	Herbert's baptism appears in ancestry's 'England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975' as Robert Minter - clearly a mistake. In 1881 Herbert, 23, unmarried, a collector, sewing machine trade, was a lodger at 28 Hampton Road, Newington, Surrey. October 1885: sewing machine agent of 16 West Hill, Wandsworth. July 1888, manager, Singer Manufacturing living at 142a High Street, Wandsworth. 1891 census: at 9 West Hill, Wandsworth, London, Herbert (33, domestic machinery agent), Harriett (34), Isabella (8), Herbert W P (6), Frederick A (5) and Herbert's father William (71, widower, living on own means). Herbert's daughter Ellen A M (3) was staying with her aunt Mary Ann NOTLEY (29, born Foxley, Northants) and her husband Henry William NOTLEY (28, police constable) at 39 Pearman Road, Lambeth, London. September 1891: a machine agent at 9 West Hill, Wandsworth. Living at 53 St Peters Terrace, Hammersmith, a collector, in November 1898. 1901 census (indexed as WINTER by ancestry.com): at 60 Upham Park Road, Chiswick, Herbert (44, sewing machine company collector), Harriett (45), Isabel J L (18, governess private family), Herbert W P (16), Frederick A (15, commercial clerk), Ellen A M (13), Thodore R (9) and Percival L (5). 1911 census: at 58 Harbord Street, Fulham, London (4 rooms), Herbert (head, 53, married, builder, worker, born Washbrook, Suffolk), Harriet (wife, 54, married 28 years, 6 children all living [these details were written against the boarder's name then crossed out], housewife, born Foxley, Northamptonshire), Theodore R (son, 19, single, engineers clerk, worker, born Wandsworth), Percival L (son, 15, single, hosiers cashier, worker, born Wandsworth) and a boarder, Thomas Reynish BRICE (51, widower). Form signed Herbert Minter. 1921 census: at 58 Harbord Street, Fulham, London (both MINTER), Herbert (head, 63, married, born Washbrook, Suffolk, sewing machine agent) and Harriet (wife, 63, married, born Foxley, Northamptonshire). Also a visitor, Ellen POPPLE (52, widow, born Foxley, Northamptonshire). Peter Minter writes: [Herbert] worked for his younger brother (FGM). He turned the banisters now in the office, along the front of Tigers office next to those from Rushbrooke Hall.
