Donovant Died Saturday, January 29, 2011 Edgar Daniel Donovant, 82, of Spruce Village in Martinsville, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at his home. He was born in Henry County on Nov. 25, 1928, to Hobert H. and Mary Hodge Donovant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Donovant; and a sister, Christine D. Honeycutt. He retired from Memorial Hospital in Martinsville where he was a security guard. He was a member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Mayo of Collettsville, N.C.; two sons, James M. Donovant of Roanoke and Daniel "Donnie" L. Donovant of Hickory, N.C.; a sister, Linda D. Walker of Danville; two brothers, James Donovant of Martinsville and Lewis Donovant of Winston-Salem, N.C.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Dr. Mike Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of James Donovant, 387 Woodlawn Avenue, Martinsville.
