Notes |
- Eva appears in Paul Twynam's family tree as 'the adopted daughter of Julia Pearce'. Although Eva doesn't appear on censuses, she was talked about in the family and Paul says (quoting his cousin Wendy who spoke to her father George van Loon):
"... He thought the term adopted might have been a little more formal than it actually was.
Dad thought she was probably just "taken in" as a small child. For some reason I seem to think there might have been a brother of Eva's as well."
Paul adds:
"So it seems Eva was informally adopted by Julia and Herbert which means there are probably no records. Perhaps she was a lost child or orphan.
The following is an excerpt from a transcript of an audio recording I have of my mother talking about her life. It is all she says about Eva.
"Eva came over with the group but she wasn't a daughter. I don't know the connection."
She is referring to Herbert, Julia and their children coming to Canada."
