  Notes	Living with parents in 1851 and 1861. Indentured for seven years as a compositor with Robert Shaw and Charles Bond of 137 Fetter Lane, London. Worked for the 'Law Times' in 1861: testimonial presented on leaving for his warm-hearted, self-sacrificing labours in the cause of the unfortunate needy. Joined 'The Sportsman' in 1871 and afterwards 'The Daily Telgraph' for 18 months before the 'Field and Queen'. Appointed printing manager of the 'Field and Queen', represented the London Topographical Society at Queen Victoria's Jubilee and the Paris Exhibition of 1889. A delegate at T.U.C, was Father of the Chapel for 20 years. Retired in 1909 due to ill health. 1871 census: at 37 Amelia Street, Newington, Surrey, Robert Wm. (29, printer (composition), Susannah G (31), Lucretia (7, scholar), William R (5, scholar) and Horace L (1). May 1880, a compositor of 37 Amelia Street, Newington, London 1881 census: at 37 Amelia Street, Newington, Surrey, Robert W (39, printer compositor), Susannah G (41), Lucretia (17, dyer's assistant), William (15, printer compositor), Charles (9, scholar), Emily (5, scholar), Arthur (3) and Millicent (10 months). Frank (born in 1873) not found. 1891 census: at 16 Graces Road, Camberwell, Surrey, Robert W (49, printer's compositor), Susannah (51), William R (25, printer's compositor), Charles T (19, printer's machine manager), Frank (18, printer's compositor), Emily I (15, fan mounter), Arthur J (13, scholar), Millicent M (10, scholar) and Florence K (8, scholar). Staying with Robert and family was his sister Martha C (unmarried, 34, assisted by family). July 1892: a compositor of 16 Graces Road, Camberwell. Post Office Directory 1894 has Robert Minter, 24 Graces Road, Camberwell, London SE Post Office Directory 1898 has Robert William Minter, 7 Champion Grove, London SE 1901 census: at 7 Champion Grove, Camberwell, Surrey, Robert W (59, printer compositor), Susannah G (61), Emily I (25, fan maker), Arthur (23, printer compositor), Millicent M (20, shorthand clerk) and Florence K (18).
