He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Jan; daughter Terry and Dave Smetana; daughter Karen and Dave Maxwell; son John and Lindy Minter; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. John graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth then Texas A&M in 1954 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and was commissioned into the U.S. Army, completing his military career as Captain. His career as a consulting engineer took him to Midland, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Madagascar, Yemen and Dallas. He finished his career with Hunt Oil Company as a Vice President of Engineering. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and a leader in the business world. He was a godly man and was known for his outstanding integrity and extravagant generosity. He loved his family, friends, and colleagues and was a mentor to many. His life will be celebrated at First Presbyterian Church, 1835 Young St, Dallas, 75201 on January 14 at 2:00 p.m., reception following. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Stewpot Ministry at First Presbyterian Church, Dallas or First Presbyterian Church, Richardson (271 N.
