| Notes |
- Mary Ann, whose husband would have been George Henry Howell, is mentioned in her father's Will. The way the children's names are listed in the Will might suggest that Mary Ann was the eldest. I've had a good look for other traces of Mary Ann but all I can find is what was probably her marriage, on 29 December 1836 at St Bride, Fleet Street, London. Search as I may, I can't establish when or where she was born or baptised and it did occur to me that perhaps her father Henry was married to someone else before marrying Elizabeth (there is quite an age gap between them). It's very strange that I can find no trace of the Howell family in 1851 or 1861, especially since they were both evidently alive in 1853 when Henry wrote his Will. They seem to have had at least one child since in 1851, Elizabeth Howell (9, born St Lukes, Middlesex) was living with her grandfather Henry and in 1861, Mary E Howell (niece, 19, born St Luke, London) was living with her uncle Henry William. Elizabeth and Mary E may in fact have been the same person. A Mary Elizabeth Howell's birth was registered at St Luke RD in Q3 1841.
