  Notes	1871 census: Robert (17, an apprentice wood carver) was boarding in Peel Street, St Margarets, Ipswich. 1881 census: at 35 Westmoreland Street, St George Hanover Square, Westmister, London, Robert (27, wood carver), Martha (27, wood carver's wife), Robert (7, scholar), William M (4, scholar) and Ada M (1). When William Marcus and May Ada were baptised in 1882, Robert's address was put down as 33 Westmoreland Street, occupation wood carver. 1891 census: in Gordon Road, Christchurch, Bournemouth, Hants, Robert (37, instructor of gymnastics with boxing and fencing), Martha (37), May (11, scholar), Blanche (8, scholar), Lydia (6, scholar), Eugene (3) and Constance (1). 1901 census: at 25 Oliver Road, Birmingham, Martha (47, head), May (21, teacher (school)), Blanche (18, warehouse clerk (brassfoundry)), Lydia (16, dressmaker), Eugene (13, schoolboy), Constance (11, schoolgirl), Lilian (9, schoolgirl) and Kate (6, schoolgirl). It seems likely that the Robert Minter (47, woodcarver &c) who was boarding at 59 Colton Street, Leicester was this Robert, although his birthplace is shown as Bow, London. 1911 census: at 30 Rotherwood Road, Putney, London (3 rooms), Robert (head, 57, married, wood carver, worker, born Washbrook, Suffolk), Martha (wife, 57, married 37 years, 10 children, 9 living, 1 died, born Ipswich, Suffolk), Lilian Anne (daughter, 19, single, milliner, worker, born Bournemouth, Hampshire), Katherine Elsie (daughter, 16, single, shop assistant, fancy drapery, worker, born Birmingham, Warwickshire) and Mary Elizabeth BAILEY (visitor, 41, married 17 years, 1 child, living, born Birmingham, Warwickshire). Form signed Robert Minter. 1921 census: at 29, Galveston Road, Wandsworth Borough, London (all MINTER), Robert (head, 67y 8m, married, born Washbrook, Suffolk, wood carver with F G Minter, builder & contractor, Ferry Works, High Street, Putney), Martha (wife, 68y 6m, married, born Ipswich, Suffolk), Catherine Elsie (daughter, 26y 6m, single, born Birmingham, Warwickshire, shop assistant, glove department with Messrs John Barker, draper, High St, Kensington) and Eugene (grandson, 9y 10m, mother dead, born Holborn, London, whole time school). Also a visitor, Frances Maria COOMBS (44y 2m, single, born Deptford, London, bookkeeper for drapery counting house, Woolland Bros Ltd, 95/107 Kinghtsbridge, London SW1). 1939 Register: at 340 Hagden Lane, Watford M.B., Hertfordshire ALLEN, Raymond S born 20 Sep 1880, married, postman ALLEN, Lydia R born 29 Dec 1885 [should say 1884], married, unpaid domestic duties --- 1 closed record --- ALLEN, Dennis R born 2 Jun 1927, at school Minter, Robert born 13 Sep 1853, married, retired grocer. Peter Minter says that Robert won the MC in the 1914-18 war, married twice and moved to America. [It seems unlikely that Robert Minter would have fought in WW1 - he would have been 61 when the conflict began.] See also notes below re moving to America. Pat Bartlam adds: "We have a copy of a letter sent by Great grandfather Robert Minter to my uncle Mick ( Marcus Robert) dated 22/3/1940. The address from which it was sent is 340 Hagdon Lane Watford. I can only presume he went to America after this date." Feb 2009: Pat has a copy of Robert's death certificate which shows that he died at 60 Vicarage Road, Watford, home address 340 Hagden Lane Watford.
