      Form signed J Minter.

Ancestry.com has Joseph's service record in connection with a claim for a WW1 pension he made after he was discharged and transferred to the Z Reserves on 20 August 1919, at which time his address was 18 Elthorne Road, Hanwell, London W7. The claim was that Joesph suffered from rheumatism which started in October 1916 when he was in France (where he served for 16 months from 6 January 1916). A medical examination concluded that his rheumatism caused less than 20% disability; it's not clear whether a pension was awarded.

When he signed on to the Royal Engineers Postal Section on 23 October 1915 Joseph gave his previous employment as a GPO sorter, his age as 40 years 3 months, born Kensington. There is an indication that Joseph had previously been in the Army Post Office Corps, discharged on 21 November 1907 and that he was authorised to wear one stripe of gold braid for wound sustained in the South African campaign 1899 - 1902. Next of kin wife Mary A E Minter, 18 Elthorne Park Road, Hanwell W7
