| Notes |
- Charles Minter is included in the US Minter clan although his ancestry is uncertain. His name features in a number of Public Member trees at ancestry.com and most have his father as Anthony Minter. The problem comes with trying to work out which Anthony Minter was actually Charles's father, and the identity of Anthony's wife, Charles's mother. This was thought by some to have been Judith Pendleton.
Perhaps the most likely ancestry for Charles is:
Anthony Minter born about 1770, married Judith Pendleton on 18 December 1792 in Fauquier, Virginia
If the above is right then the following pair of 1820 census entries from Scott County, Virginia might refer to Anthony and his wife (and other family members) and Charles and another person (looks a little too old to be his wife):

By the time of the 1830 census Charles was married (on 26 July 1820 in Scott County, Virginia). Several Public Member trees at ancestry.com have his wife as Mary Y ALEXANDER, born about 1796. I haven't been able to verify this but the 1830 census suggests Charles's wife was born between 1801 and 1810. On the other hand, there's an entry at findagrave.com for 'Mary Alexander Minter, married Charles Minter. daughter of Alexander Alexander and Nancy Parsons'. The dates given are birth 10 Jan 1796, death 9 May 1882. Burial was said to have been in Cambell Cemetery, Booneville, Owsley County, Kentucky but no grave marker is pictured.
A further complication regarding Mary's birth date is that (according to the Parker/Congleton tree at ancestry.com) her father, Alexander Alexander, didn't marry Nancy Parsons until 1798, at which point Nancy was about 17. If Mary had been born in 1796, Nancy would have been only about 14.
My feeling is that Mary was probably born about 1806. This is borne out by the appearance in the 1860 census of Mary Minter, widow, 54, born North Carolina, living with John E Minter (Mary's son) and his family.

The 1840 census looks pretty consistent with the 1830 census except for the male aged 20 - 29, who doesn't seem to fit in as Charles's son.

Charles had apparently died before the 1850 census. His widow's location hasn't been determined.
