"William Adolphus Minter, Jr., a son of Judge William Adolphus Minter and the former Miss Clara Laluke Dunovant, was born in Mississippi on October 16th 1871. His family later emigrated to Buffalo Gap, Texas; where his father was a merchant. When the railroad came, the family moved to Abilene. There the Minters were charter members of the First Presbyterian Church.

In 1900, William went into business for himself, establishing the Minter's Dry Goods Company, located at 242 Pine Street.

On August 1st 1901, Will Minter, as he was known, married Miss Mabel Montgomery; with whom he had the following known children:
      Mabel Montgomery (1903-1962)
      William Dunovant, Jr. (1904-1976)
      John Louis "Jack" (1908-1971)

As the children grew up, they joined their father in the business and helped make it a lasting business for decade to come.

William Adolphus Minter, Jr. departed this life on August 19th 1935 at the age of 63 years."
