Robert Minter, who was editor of 'The Civil Service Pensioner' from 1959 to 1977 died peacefully at home on 3rd November 1979. His lengthy period of Office proved how well he served The Alliance. Robert kept the lines of communication open during the fighting years up to 1971, when a restless and frustrated membership protested vigorously against a Goverment which took 3½ - 4 years to decide whether or not there should be a pension increase. Robert's job was to reassure the membership that the Alliance, despite continual political pressure at the time, was doing its best. That Robert did admirably and his quartely publications helped immensly to build the solid foundation on wich The Alliance thrives today. There are not many of the "old-un's" from these years left, but the memory of Robert, among those who remain, will be held in high regard. G.G.P.
