George W. Minter, 89, passed and joined the Lord in the early morning hours of Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday in Arlington Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Mausoleum. Visitation: 1 p.m. Monday, prior to service. George was born on the small family farm on Feb. 1, 1925, in Blum to John Wesley and Annie A. Minter. He attended public schools in Blum and Blanton. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the U.S. Navy. Upon return to civilian life, George mastered the construction craft which elevated him to his final 30-year career as facilities superintendent for the University of Texas at Arlington. He was a 65-year member of the Mason/Moslah Shrine organization. Survivors: His wife of 48 years, Jessie Minter; sons, John Minter and Bill Johnston and wife, Christine; grandsons, Bill Johnston Jr. and Stephen Johnston; brother, Robert Minter and wife, Shirley; and several generations of nieces and nephews.
