1794:The Kentish Register records that a boat belonging to Mr Leonard Minter of Folkestone caught in one night in November 118,000 herrings which were sold for £157.
Had 5 children in 1803.
Seaman aged 47 in 1804, master of own vessel the undecked fishing lugger "Betsey" of 8 tons.
Mentioned in will of Robert Milton (father of wife) proved 6 March 1809.
May 2019. Records at findmypast.co.uk of 'Prisoners of War 1715 1945' include pages recording that a Leonard Minter, captain of marines belonging to the Achilles under Wm. Yawkins, coming from Dover "on a cruise", was captured by the Constant and taken to Brest as a prisoner, landing on 29 February. The year at the top of the page is 1779 which wasn't a leap year, so 29 February is either wrong or must refer to 1778.
It's not known whether these details relate to Leonard Minter born 1757 but it seems possible.

- Marriage allegation: 10 October 1781 Leonard Minter of Folkestone mariner bachelor 24 and Elizabeth MILTON of the same, spinster, 23.
Married by license. Cliff Minter: the license was issued in Canterbury. It's unlikely that they could have sped back to Folkestone to be married in the same day.
