    • Robert's birth date is uncertain. The only Robert, son of Homan and Charlotte, I can find was christened on 11 December 1803, yet when he married in 1840 he gave his age as 31 and the ages quoted in censuses 1851 and 1861 are 40 and 52. However, the Robert whose death was registered in Q2 1882 was 79, which is nearer the mark.

      1851 census: in Weeley, Essex, Robert (40, ag lab, born Thorp), Jessy (49, born Beaumont, Essex) and Maryann (10, scholar, born Thorp).

      1861 census: in Thorp Road, Weeley, Essex, Robt (52, ag lab, born Thorp), Jessy (57, born Beaumont, Essex) and Mary Ann (20, needle woman, born Thorp).

      1871 census: not found.

      1881 census: at the Horse Shoes Inn, Beaumont, Essex, Robert GARNHAM (boarder, widower, 77, groom born Thorpe-le-Soken).
