Notes	Said to have been a sailor in his younger days. According to the Ash Family Reconstitution Forms supplied by Cally Schneider in December 2012 Henry was a against the duty on beer - 30 July 1830, an inhabitant of Ash. market gardener in Worth between 1844 and 1863. Possibly the Henry Minter who appeared in the History & Directory of the County of Kent by S Bagshaw, 1847 as Henry Minter, fruiterer of Worth. 1851 census: in Worth Street, Worth, Kent, Henry (33, market gardener), Maria (32), William (5), Henry (4), Frederick (3) and Jane (1). 1861 census: at Worth Street, Worth, Kent, Henry (43, market gardener), Maria (42), Frederick (13, gardener's labourer), Jane (11), John (9), Ann (8), Charles (7), Frank (6), George (3) and Albert (7 months). Henry and his childen were all born in Worth; his wife in Ash. A market gardener in Durlock Ash from 1864. 1871 census: at Vine Cottage, Durlock, Ash, Henry (53, farmer 10 acres), Maria (51), Jane (21, servant(?)), Ann (18, servant?), Charles (16, apprentice), Frank (16, farm boy), George (14) and Albert (10). Sarah SPRATT (mother-in-law, 83, widow, annuitant, born Wingham) was also at Vine Cottage A market gardener in Ash in 1874. A witness at Ash on 1 October 1874. A witness at Ash on 7 December 1876. Appeared in the Post Office Directory for Kent, 1878 as Henry Minter, market gardener, Durlock, Ash next Sandwich. 1881 census: at Market Gardener's House, (Durlock?), Ash, Henry (64, market gardener), Maria (62), Charles D (26) and Albert E (20, draper's assistant). Appeared in Kelly's Directory of Kent, 1882 as Henry Minter, market gardener, Durlock. Living in Durlock Ash in 1884 with house and land. According to the Ash Family Reconstitution Forms supplied by Cally Schneider in December 2012, quoting the Kentish Gazette of 10 February 1885: at the Wingham Petty Sessions Henry was for being drunk and disorderly, fined 5s. and costs. I haven't verified this. census: Maria now a widow (72, living on own means) was living at Durlock, Ash next door to her son Albert, market gardener (qv). From Cliff Minter: tombstone at Ash next Sandwich reads: Henry Minter of Durlock in this parish who died 2 October 1890 age 73. also Maria Minter wife of the above, born March 1819, died 26 February 1898. April 2005: The Spratt family tree on Genes Reunited (owned by Brian Spratt) is linked to the Minter tree by the marriage of Henry Minter and Maria SPRATT.
