  Notes	When this individual was originally imported from Stephen Hunsley's work on the Hunsley family, he was known as 'William Stephen Hunsley born 14 August 1775 in Kirton'. However, the baptism (shown in the Kirton PR covering 1766 - 1806) on 14 August 1775 was of 'Wiiliam son of Stephen & Mary Hunsley', and there is no baptism of a Stephen Hunsley about that date. The marriage which took place on 12 December 1811 in Kirton-in-Lindsey was between Stephen Hunsley and Mary Lawman. After considering all the available information, including the censuses below, I've come to the conclusion that Stephen was probably Stephen & Mary's son, born about 1790. But I've been unable to find his baptism. Most of Stephen and Mary's children were baptised in Scotter but William and Elizabeth appear to have been baptised in Kirton-in-Lindsey. The two places are only about 4½ miles apart. 1841 census (indexed as UNNLEY by Ancestry and recorded as UNSLEY), in Scotter, Lincs, Stephen (51, ag lab), Mary (48), Sarah (25), Stephen (13), Edward (10) and Emila * (5). 1851 census, in Sands, Scotter, Lincs (all HUNSLEY except where shown) , Stephen (61, ag lab, born Kirton), Mary (58, born Kirton), Mary (daughter, 31, born Scotter), Maria HARRIS (daughter, widow, 25, born Scotter), Emily * (daughter, 15, born Scotter), William (son, 7, born Scotter) and Amos SHARP ** (grandson, 2, born Scotter). * Emily was baptised on 3 April 1836 as the illegitimate daughter of Sarah HUNSLEY of Scotter - assumed to be Stephen's daughter Sarah. Emily is listed here as Sarah's daughter. ** Amos's birth was registered at Gainsborough in Q4 1848 (14/333) as Amos Sharp HUNSLEY. I cannot find a baptism at Scotter for him and cannot discover what became of him. 1861 census - see son John's Notes.
