June 2017: an email from Bev Robertson, descended from the union of Henry Gardiner and Elizabeth Chambers. The email says: "My mum Ruth Gardiner (their granddaughter) told me that a lady came from London claiming to be John's (Minter) sister. I don't know the outcome or the name of the sister. My mum was born in 1911 so this must have been in the 1930s I would imagine." In response to my question, Bev added: "This is the John born c. 1835 Boyton who came to Hoo in Kent and is there in the 1871 census."
