MINTER Arthur of the Post Office Huntingfield Suffolk seaman Royal Naval Division died 22 March 1918 in France Probate Ipswich 22 August 1918 to Edith Sarah Minter widow and Sidney Minter grocer and draper. Effects £1255 11s 4d.
Mike Minter has taken a photo of a memorial in Huntingfield Church which lists Arthur Minter and nine others "... in proud memory of these brothers who died that we might live".
Mike also found the following on the Huntingfield War memorial:
Able Seaman R/5770, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Anson Battalion, Royal Naval Division Died 22/03/1918. Age 29. Son of Robert Minter (Tailor,draper,and Postmaster at Huntingfield) and Elizabeth (nee Everett) one of 12 children. Married to Edith S. Morley (1912) had 2 daughters Phyllis V. (b. 1914) and Edith J. (b. 1917). Born Sept. 1888 in Huntingfield. No known grave. Commemorated on Arras Memorial
The following is taken from a document written by Nick Metcalfe, October 2011:
Born 31 May 1888 at Huntingfield, Suffolk. Worked as a grocer & draper. Enlisted 24 June 1916 and posted to the Army Reserve. Mobilised 4 August 1917 and joined the Royal Naval Division Depot at Blandford Camp, Dorset. To France 3 December 1917 and joined the Anson Battalion in 188th Brigade, 63rd (Royal Naval) Division. Killed in action at Flesquieres on 22 March 1918. Arras Memorial.
