Ancestry.co.uk shows that Mervyn gained his Royal Aero Club Aviators' Certificate in an L&P Biplane at the London & Provincial School, Hendon on 30 June 1915. The address given was c/o Light & Fulton, 1 Laurence Pontney Hill, Cannin Street, London EC.

The record shows that Mervyn joined the Royal Flying Corps in 1915 and became a lieutenant on 11 October 1916. He was awarded the Serbian White Eagle. He evidently suffered from some fitness problem and was recommended for flying 'in a warm dry climate only otherwise limit altitude to 5000 feet'. A record sheet started on 30 May 1918 gives Mervyn's address as c/o Lady Jenkins, Sussex House, Kew Road, Kew Gardens, Surrey and the person to be informed of casualties as H G Light, c/o Light & Fulton, solicitors, 1 Laurence Pountney Hill, Cannon Street, London EC4.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported on 21 December 1916 that:
Flight Lieutenant Mervyn Minter son of Mr A R Minter of the firm of Messrs Minter Simpson and Co according to a cable message received yesterday has been decorated with the Servian White Eagle. Mr Minter left Sydney in 1915 and joined the Royal Flying Corps as a lieutenant and went to Egypt taking part in the El Arish raid Subsequently he was mentioned in despatches. Later he went with his squadron to Salonica He is now in hospital at Malta with malaria. His elder brother, Lieutenant Bruce Minter, has been in France with the Field Artillery during most of this year. A cable message from a fellow officer received in November stated that Lieutenant Biuce Minter was mentioned in despatches for work at Pozieres as observation officer.

ALLEGED CAR THEFT.
At the Cetral Police Court yesterday Raymond Fenwick, aged 19 years, and Lloyd Phillips, aged 19 years, were committed for trial on a charge of having stolen a motor car, valued at £350, the property of Mervyn Minter. According to the evidence the car disappeared from a street outside the Criterion Theatre on February 21 while the owner, Mr Minter of Mahana, Rawson-road, Rose Bay, was attending an entertainment in the theatre. They were arrested near Junee.
On 3 October 1924 it was reported in the Sydney Morning Herald that Mervyn, grazier of Tumblong, was involved in a court case over a disputed purchase of some lambs. (citation http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article16159768)

familysearch.org (July 2014) has a shipping record showing Mervyn Minter (39) and Mabel D Minter (30) leaving Sydney on the 'Mariposa' on 21 October 1933 bound for Suva, Fiji, first class. Another record shows them leaving Honolulu on 1 December 1933 on the 'Mariposa' returning to Sydney, again first class.

MISSES TEMPE and DOREEN MINTER, of Gundagai, are in Sydney with their father, Mr. Mervyn Minter, for Easter. Miss Tempe Minter will be bridesmaid at the wedding of Miss Wendy Prince and Mr. Bill McPhillamy in September, and she and her sister attended the party given by Miss Prince last night to celebrate the announcement of her engagement yesterday.

Orcades Sails For London
MISSES TEMPE and DOREEN MINTER and LIEUT. DAVID LANE, R.N., and MRS. LANE were among the hundreds of passengers who sailed for England in the Orcades yesterday. Misses Minter and their mother, Mrs. Mervyn Minter of "Bereena" Tumblong, will spend eight months' holiday abroad, and Lient, and Mrs. Lane, who married last week, will live in Surrey, where he has been posted. Mrs. Lane's parents, Dr. and Mrs. H. L. Hawthorne, of Inverell, were among the thousands who packed 13 Pyrmont to watch the Orcades sail.
