  Notes	When his children were baptised in 1843, 1844, 1846, 1847 and 1850 John was a carpenter. 1841 census: in Eyke, John (36), Lydia (27) and Elizabeth HURREN (3). 1851 census: in Eyke Street, Eyke, John (45, carpenter), Lydia (36), Elizabeth HURREN (13, scholar), Mary Ann (9, scholar), Anna (7, scholar), Amelia (2) and George Wm (6 months). 1861 census: in Eyke, John (55, carpenter employing 6 men), Lydia (46), Elizabeth HURREN (23, step daughter), Anna (18), Amelia (12, scholar) and George (10, scholar). Also Horace SIMPSON (nephew, 6, scholar, born Eyke). 1871 census: in Eyke Street, Eyke, John (65, carpenter) and Lydia (56). Elizabeth HURREN was Lydia's daughter from her first marriage. Only in 1861 was Elizabeth described as other than 'daughter'. It seems likely that John remarried after Lydia died (the marriage certificate would prove it). His second wife was Martha Ann BINES; she married again after John died in 1878. According to his death certificate (copy held by Graham Minter) John died of atrophy of the heart. Graham's Minter Story of June 2012 includes the following: " 16 March of that year [1878], an advertisement appeared in the Ipswich Journal announcing the sale by auction of "a quantity of household furniture, brewing utensils, carpenters' tools and stock in trade of Mr John Minter, deceased". "
