Illuminated Garden Setting For Wedding Reception
Hundreds of coloured lamps lit the gardens of Rancliff last night for the out-door reception which followed the marriage of Miss Patricia Marsland and Mr. John Minter at St. Mark's Church, Darling Point.
The wedding was one of the largest and most glamorous seen in Sydney for some time, and the reception one of the few that have been held out of doors at night.
A large marquee hung with garlands of ferns and roses was a beautiful setting for the all-white bridal ensembles and the formal evening dress worn by the 220 guests.
To cope with the large number of guests groups of tables and chairs were set in the open under illuminated trees, and there was dancing on the verandahs.
The bride is the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Marsland, of Vaucluse. Her gown had a bouffant skirt of layer upon layer of white.tulle and a low necked, nearly sleeveless, bodice of white satin. With it she wore an heirloom veil of Limerick lace.
Frocks of white organdie with bodices and aprons of white broderie anglaise were worn by the three attendants, Miss Judith Marsland, Mrs. Robert Minter, and Mrs. Ben Wall. Their caps of white stitched organdie had close-fitting crowns and soft organdie brims.
The bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Minter, of Rose Bay and Kahlua. Coolac. He was attended by Messrs. Peter Woods. Bruce Gollan, and Robert Minter.
Mr. and Mrs. Minter will spend their honeymoon at Lord Howe island and at Mr. Minter's parents' property at Coolac.'
The Ryerson index gives a funeral date of 30 July 2001.
