  Notes	From findagrave.com, April 2015: "Death date taken from sworn statement for CSA Vet pension applied for in 1915, but wasn't approved until 1924. It states the date of marriage as 16 July 186? (last letter appears to be a 5 or an 8). Date of birth is not documented but cited in numerous family trees, none of which provides qualified proof. The 1850 US Census enumerates him at age 16 in Yallabusha Co. MS in the home of his parents, William and Jane Minter. He was a Private, Confederate Army, Woodville Sharpshooters of Tyler Co. TX, later a member of Hood's 1st Texas Regulars, Infantry." 1880 United States Federal Census: in Precinct 4 & 5, Polk, Texas (all MINTER), John (47, farmer, born Mississippi), Elizabeth (35, wife, keeping house, born Louisiana), Emidy * (14, son, works on farm, born Texas) and William W (2, son, born Texas). Also 2 boarders. * Elizabeth's son from her first marriage. John died in 1892. His widow lived on with son William - see his Notes for further census data.
