  Notes	From findagrave.com, April 2015: The youngest son of Nathan Polk "Pokey" Minter and Willia Myrtle Secrest who also had two older daughters, born in Nedra, Colorado Co., TX. He had a 7th grade education, going to work at the age of 13. He married Dorine Childress Water on Wednesday, October 8, 1930 in Dayton, Liberty County, Texas. They had three children: - Earl Allen Minter (21 Feb 1934-15 May 2012) - Judy Lynn Minter MILSTEAD VARNELL (10 Jul 1945-4 Jun 2003) - Linda Lee Minter DURAN (Alive in 2012) He retired from Humble Oil in 1963 to help take care of Dorine. After 33 years of marriage, Dorine died from pulmonary fibrosis (the same disease they son Earl later, died from) on 7 Jun 1964 in Methodist Hospital, Houston, Harris County, Texas at the age of 51 years. Howard then married the Gibbs widow, Eula Mae Fisher on Saturday, April 16th 1966 in Liberty County, Texas. In 1986 Howard and Eula Mae moved from Baytown to Tyler, Smith County, Texas. Their marriage ended after 28 years with the death of Howard, from heart failure at the age of 84 years. He is buried beside Dorine. MINTER Services for Howard Minter, 84, of Tyler are pending at the Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. Minter died Monday, August 1, 1994, at his residence. He had lived in Tyler since 1979 after moving from Baytown. He was a zone supervisor for Exxon and a member of Cedar Bayou Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Eula Mae Minter of Tyler; son, Earl Minter of Joasha (Joshua); daughter, Judy Varnell of Porter, Linda Duran of Houston, Beverly Gibbs Harlan of Tyler; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several great-nephews. 1940 United States Federal Census: in Harris County, Texas (all MINTER), Harwood E (sic) (head, 31, instrument department, oil refinery), Dorene (wife, 28) and Earl A (son, 6).
