Douglas Carter age 82 of 766 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, died Friday August 20, 2010 at Blue ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville. He was born August 19, 1928 in Henry County to the late Lee Roy and Kate Minter Carter. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Lee Roy Carter. He was a member of One Accord Baptist Church, and retired from Gardner Vending Co after 30 years of service. He was a former member of the Knights of Pythias, Patrick Henry Lodge #82, and the Martinsville Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Sigmon Carter of the home, one son Sandy Douglas Carter of Las Vegas, NV, one sister, Barbara White of Martinsville, and two grandsons, Joshua Douglas Carter, and Brock Douglas Carter. The funeral service will be Monday August 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Revs. Phillip Woods and Ron Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday night August 22, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel, and at other times at the home on 766 Clearview Drive, Martinsville. Arrangements are by Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home.
