  Notes	Baptised in 1866 as an adult, daughter of Ann Jane Minter, Whitstable, singlewoman. Cliff Minter comments (January 2008): "Frances Jane was then aged 20 and her mother was most probably not present. I wonder what persuaded Frances Jane to be baptised, perhaps it had something to do with the baptism of her daughter Mary Ann, who was born about that same time." 1881 census: at 8 Tooley Street, Whitstable, Fanny HARRIS (head, W, 35, charwoman), John HARRIS (brother, 28, general labourer) and Mary Ann HARRIS (14, domestic servant). Although Fanny is shown as a widow there is no sign of her marrying. 1891 census: the following entry must refer to Frances: at Outer Wall, Seasalter, William SOPER (50, head, shipwright, born Portsmouth, Hants), Frances H SOPER (wife, 47, born Whitstable) and John HARRIS (brother, 37, general labourer) There is no sign of Frances marrying in the 1880s. The 'H' in her name could have been meant to stand for Harris. The William Donton SOPER whose death at 54 was registered in Q1 1895 may have been Frances' 'husband'. 1901 census: at Lower Island, Whitstable: Frances SOPER (head, widow, 55, charwoman), John HARRIS (single, 48, general labourer) and Clara GOLDSMITH (granddaughter, single, 15, dressmaker's apprentice, born Whitstable).
