John P. Covington, for many years a citizen of this city, passed away Sunday afternoon at his home on Gravely Street. He was in his 40th year at the time of his death.
The deceased is survived by his wife and the following children: Gladys, John Jr., Mildred, Blanche, Clyde and James.
Funeral services were held Monday with interment in Oakwood Cemetery.
The deceased moved to Martinsville some years ago from Ridgeway, where he conducted a mercantile business.
Since his residence in this city, he was associated with a number of the department stores here, having been with Fusfeld Koledney for the past year.
