  Notes	Per Martin Cayless, April 2016, from research done for him: baptised as George, son of John, a boatman, and Maria CARELESS, of Loughborough. 1841 census: not found. But James WHITBY (see 1851) was living in Birmingham Row, aged 75 a gardener. Also, Martin Cayless's researcher found the following, which probably refers to George's wife: living on the Canal Bank in Loughborough, Ann CAYLESS, 15, born in Leicestershire. The same house seemed to be occupied by 2 lodgers and the WHITEHOUSE and WARFIELD families. 1881 census: George CAYLESS (61, widower, waterman) was lodging with Benjamin and Anne PHIPPS at 3 Court A Conery Passage, Loughborough. Ann had died in 1873. George died in 1889, evidently having returned to London - his death was registered at Paddington.
