Harry joined the Rifle Brigade on 28 April 1917, aged 30, labourer of (initially) 229 Grove St, Deptford (later) 2 Dorking Rd, Deptford. Next of kin wife Lilian May Florence Minter. Son Henry Arthur Matthew born Greenwich 8 July 1916. Served in the BEF in France 1917 - 18. Discharged on 18 November 1919 with a pension of 24s plus 10s 6d for wife, to be reviewed after 52 weeks. 1921 census: at 274, Lower Road, Rotherhithe, Bermondsey, London (all MINTER), Harry (head, 36y 1m, married, born Bermondsey, window cleaner with Messrs Searle & Sons, house furnishers, Old Kent Road), Arthur (son, 4y 11m, born Deptford, whole time school) and Lilian (wife, 33y 1m, married, born Brixton).
