  Notes	George married Lilian Isa THROWER in Q3 1915. At least one Public Tree at ancestry.com shows a 1911 marriage to an earler wife, Daisy Gertrude ALSTON, plus two children born in 1912 and 1914. I haven't been able to verify this. George's WW1 service record, covering the period 30 Dec 1916 to his demob on 27 Jan 1919 shows his next of kin as Mrs L I Pennick, 35 Church Road, Brightlingsea, Essex. After his demob, George seved for many years in the Mercantile Marine. George's name appears on the Mercantile Marine Memorial - WW2 in Trinity Square Garden, London EC3. He was one of 8 members of the crew of the Cable Ship 'Faraday' who were killed when their ship was bombed on 26 March 1941. The following is copied from an article of the 'Faraday' on Wikipedia: "On 25 March 1941 the Faraday and four other ships set sail from Falmouth bound for Milford Haven. The Faraday was carrying 90 miles, 3,870 tons, of submarine telephone cable required in Freetown, Cape Town, Mombassa and Suez. The ships became separated in poor visibility and about 7:45 p.m. on the 26th the Faraday was attacked off St. Anne's Head by a Heinkel He 111 which strafed and bombed the ship, killing eight and wounding 25 of the crew, and caused a major fire in the oil bunkers forcing the crew to abandon ship. The Heinkel was shot down by the ship's gunners. She later ran aground at Hopper's Point, near West Dale St Ann's Head. Sixteen of the crew of 125 were lost in the attack and the wreck ashore. Most of the cable was recovered. The wreck of the Faraday still lies in shallow waters and is a popular attraction for divers.
