Paul was the son of John McAleese who was leader of the SAS team that ended the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege, and his wife Kim.
Paul was a serjeant in the 2nd battalion, The Rifles, and was serving in Afghanistan. He was killed in a bomb blast on August 20 2009 when he went to help a comrade who was fatally injured in an earlier explosion.
His funeral took place at Hereford Cathedral on September 14 and he was cremated at Herford crematorium afterwards.
Paul's widow Jo was later presented with the Elizabeth Cross to mark the nation's recognition of her loss. Son Charley was with his mother at the ceremony.
