    Notes
    • 1861 census: in Runsell Hamlet, near Danbury near Chelmsford, Essex, David MINTER (17, farm labourer, born Boyton, Essex)

1871 census: in Boyton, Suffolk (all MINTER) David (head, 37, cattle dealer etc, born Boyton), Sarah A (wife, 36, born Capel St Andrew, Suffolk), Hannah C (daughter, 4, scholar, born Capel St Andrew, Suffolks), Jesse (son, 2, born Boyton) and Nathan (son, 6 months, born Boyton).
The next entry on the page is for David's parents and their grandson.

1881 census (1) David MINTER (46, cattle dealer, born Suffolk) was a visitor at 33 King Street, St James's, Westminster with James and Hannah SMITH and family. Hannah was David MINTER's wife's sister, Hannah Elizabeth STEBBING (1831-1890) who married James SMITH in Butley on 30 Oct 1861.
Perhaps David, as a cattle dealer, was visiting James SMITH, a dairyman, to arrange some kind of deal.
1881 census (2): at a "farm or private house" in Boyton (all MINTER), Sarah Ann (wife, 46, farmer & dealer's wife, born Capel St Andrew, Suffolk), Caroline Hannah (daughter, 14, scholar, born Capel St Andrew, Suffolk), Jesse (son, 12, born Boyton), Nathan (son, 10, scholar, born Boyton) and Esther Louisa (daughter, 8, scholar, born Boyton).
August 2021: I'm indebted to Janet Tidman for her help in tidying up the entry for the 1881 census.

In December 1882 the Ipswich Journal reported proceedings held on December 13 in Woodbridge in which "Mr David Minter, cattle dealer, Boyton, was charged, on remand, with removing 22 head of neat cattle, at Melton, on the 30th ult, in contravention of the Orders in Council." After a great deal of discussion "The Chairman said it appeared that Mr Minter had done all in his power to avoid breaking the Order in Council, and the Magistrates dismissed the case."

Kelly's Directory for 1883 has an entry for David Minter, cattle dealer, Boyton.

1891 census: David (still a cattle dealer) and Sarah Ann were living in Boyton with their sons Jesse (22) and Nathan (20), both coal merchants, and daughter Esther (18) ; next door (or possibly in the same house) were David's sister Mary Anne and her husband Henry GILLESPIE; and next door (or again possibly in the same house) to them was David and Mary Anne's father, William Minter, aged 87.

1901 census: David at 67 was still cattle dealing/farming and living with his wife and grown-up children Nathan and Esther in Boyton, next door to Henry GILLESPIE, now 81, and Mary Anne, 76.

      Buried aged 67 of Boyton.

1911 census: at White House, Boyton, Woodbridge, Suffolk (6 rooms), Sarah Ann (head, 76, widow, married 37 years, 4 children all living), no occupation, born Capel St Andrew, Suffolk) and Esther Louise DURRANT (daughter, 37, widow, married 3 years, no children, no occupation, born Boyton, Suffolk). The words 'Private Means' are written across the occupation space for both women.
      Form signed Sarah Ann Minter.
