  Notes	The following was written by Joyce's daughter Jennifer in May 2020: "Joyce had worked as a women’s lingerie seamstress (she made the samples) at Redell’s sewing factory in Sudbury, Suffolk up until the time she came to America. She remained a British citizen her entire life. Joyce was a war bride who came to Chicago in 1948 to marry my father. They had met in Sudbury during the war when my grandmother Rose was providing meals for my father and his army buddy, as the US Army troops stationed in Sudbury had no canteen. Before meeting my father, my mother Joyce had a very brief marriage to a Scottish soldier named Eddie Watson. According to my grandmother Rose, my mother married Eddie the day before he was being transferred - not sure where- during the war, and the very next morning Rose went to her mother Rose Florence's house up the road where the newlyweds had stayed the previous night, and she found Joyce (Eddie already gone) crying on the sofa, saying that she did not want to be married! My mother, herself, told us that she had told Eddie before marrying him that she did not love him, but he told her she “would grow to love him.” According to my mother, the marriage was never consummated, and it was eventually annulled by the Catholic Church. I believe my mother's surname was still Watson at the time she married my father in Chicago on Feb. 14, 1948. My parents later had a church wedding on May 1,1948, in Chicago." Yos. Devoted mother of Carolyn Yos, Joyce (David) Barick, Diane (James) McGettigan, Jennifer Yos, Tish Yos, Raymond Yos, Amanda (William) Spaulding, Sharon (Richard) Pudlewski, Janice (Robert) Wilschke, and the late Linda Gowan, August, Eleanor, and Thomas Yos. Proud grandmother of 21; great-grandmother of 15; step-grandmother of 2; step-great-grandmother of 5. Kind aunt of several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Rose King, and brothers Peter and Paul King. Visitation Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN. Visitation Monday, April 15, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Joyce's funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church 3010 Ridge Rd. Lansing, IL, with Rev. Mark Kalema officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery - Calumet City, IL."
