  Notes	From the Altavista Journal of 3 May 2023: Susan Minter Compson passed away on May 1, 2023 in her own home surrounded by her loved ones. Susan was born in Altavista on July 3, 1946, to the late Troy Burton Minter and Virginia Everhart Minter. She was a graduate of Altavista High School where she was the captain of her basketball team. After graduating high school, she attended Radford University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. On February 19, 1972, she married Ray Michael Compson, Jr. She taught in the Danville Public School System before leaving to work as an office manager for her husband’s company Ray Compson Studios. Susan is predeceased by her siblings Barbara Shelton (Gordon), Ann Mattox and Richard Minter. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter Miki Compson Younger (Tim), granddaughter Halle Burke Reynolds and grandsons Timothy Wayne Younger Jr. and Carter Preston Younger (Taylor). A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Nayer Hospice and Susan’s sitters for the love and care given during this difficult time.
