- 1911 census: Frederick (26, unmarried, born Sculcoates, Yorkshire) was a Private in the 2nd East Yorkshire Regiment in Fyzabad, India.
Ancestry.com has Frederick's service record in connection with a WW1 pension claim. It shows that he joined the East Yorkshire Regiment on 1 June 1904 and was transferred to the Z Reserves on 14 May 1919.
At the time of his discharge Frederick's address was 3 Brighton Terrace, Hopwood Street, Hull.
Fredrick's date of marriage is given as 3 November 1912 and children's dates of birth as Dora 14 September 1913, Frederick B 6 October 1914 and Stanley 5 February 1917.
Frederick served in France for 4 years 4 months and was a Prisoner of War for 8 months having been taken prisoner on 25 April 1918. He received a gunshot wound in his left thigh and developed a hydrocele about March 1918 'through falling on stretcher'. He was treated in an enemy hospital then after repatriation in December 1918 at East Leeds War Hospital. A medical examination concluded that Frederick was not disabled as a result of these conditions and his pension claim was rejected.
