      Monticello, Georgia 29 December 1906
      Mr. James Polk was killed by "Curb" Waldrop, a young man who had escorted the daughters of Polk to an entertainment. When upbraided by Polk for keeping them out until 2 a.m., Polk was shot by Waldrop. Survivors were two young daughters, not named.
