  Notes	1891 census: at 111 High Street, Gillingham, Kent, Walter E (39, labourer), Rose (wife, 26), Walter's mother Angelina ('visitor', widow, 60) and another visitor, Annie A M Leiamers (3, born Old Brompton, Kent). Annie's identity is unknown. 1901 census: at 336 High Street, Rochester, Kent, Walter E (42, coffee house manager, at home), Alice M (wife, 21, born Sittingbourne) and 2 servants, a 2 boarders. One of the servants was Ann KITCHENHAM (51, coffee house assistant, born Rainham). There seems a good probability that Ann was the Ann Kitchingham born illegitimately to Walter's father, Edward Minter's, wife Angelina in 1851 (see Edward's notes). In Q1 1901 Walter Edwin married for a second time. The only death registration for a Rose Minter found in the period occurred in Q2 1899 at St Olave Bermondsey. This person was 35 when she died so was about the right age to have been Walter's first wife but it is unclear why her death would have been registered in Bermondsey. 1911 census: at 327 High Street, Rochester, Kent (9 rooms), W E (head, 53, married, cafe proprietor, own account, at home, born Rainham, Kent), Alice Maud (wife, 31, married 10 years, 2 children, 1 living 1 died, cafe propriotess, own account, at home, born Sittingbourne, Kent), Edward (son, 9, born Rochester, Kent), Angelina (mother, 80, widow, 11 children, 7 living, 4 died, born Rainham, Kent). Also Anne KITCHINGHAM (step sister, 61, single, assists ---, worker, at home, born Rainham, Kent), G BURDEN (boarder, 45, married, mariner, coal & cement trade, born Basham(?), Sussex) and J Layzell (boarder, 46, married, mariner, coal & cement trade, born Tollesbury, Essex). Form signed W E Minter. 1921 census: at 327 High Street, Rochester, Kent, Walter E MINTER (head, 63y 0m, married, born Rainham, Kent, cafe proprietor,employer, at home), Alice M MINTER (wife, 41y 3m), born Murton, Kent, cafe proprioter's assistant [to husband]) and Edward MINTER (son, 20y 2m, born Rochester, Kent, mechanic at HM Dockyard, Chatham, construction depot). Also Arthur SIMPSON (servant, 41y 0m, single, born Upper Norwood, Surrey, chef at Walter Minter's cafe), Alice LOWING (servant, 21y 6m, single, born Rochester, domestic at Walter Minter's cafe).
