  Notes	In 1790 John, owner occupier at Folkestone, voted - qualifying with a house (Poll book). In 1792 he was a Jurat, gentleman; in 1800, mayor. 1800 - DI and assessor of rates 1796 (RCMB). In 1803 living at Dover Street - Thomas aged 18 a sea fencible. Made guardian of Richard Hunt, baker, under will of father (Richard Hunt also). John was 76 when he died. Monumental Inscription: "John Minter, gentleman, late of this town, died 29 Aug 1840, age 76 left Ann his widow & 9 children, John, Thomas, Richard, Mary, Jane, Ann, Sarah, Bartholomew & Michael. Also their 3 children died in infancy - Ann, Sarah, Michael. Also Ann relict of the above died 28 Aug 1846". Evidently John was for a time in Holland. The 'Bevolking Zeeuwse Eilanden 1811' records that John, identified as 'John Minter, senior' then said to be 52, was living in Brouwershaven in 1811 and had lived in the municipality since 1803. The Zeeland Archive records that on 16 November 1802 he bought a house on Scherminkelstaat, Vlissingen from Casper Vetter for £50.0.0. Then on 25 March 1803 he bought another house on Scherminkelstaat, Vlissingen from Jacobus Vinck for £33.6.8. John Minter's death certificate gives the following details: Died on 29 August 1840, aged 76. Cause of death: water on the chest. Informant: Richard Minter of High Street, Folkestone, who was present at the death. Registered at Folkestone on 31 August 1840.
