  Notes	The birth date received with this record was 24 April 1833, clearly wrong since John's father was born in 1823, and the 1880 census gives John's age as 36. Further confusion arises - John's death certificate for his 1915 death gives his age as 76, implying a birth year of 1838 or 39. The record (no photo) at findagrave.com gives birth date as 24 April 1838. The 1900 census shows April 1842. The death cerificate gives John's full name as John L, his father as Anthony Minter and his mother as Nancy Price. The following is from the couch Family Tree at ancestry.com, Mar 2015: "1861, age 19. Monticello, GA CSA Wounded in foot and lost a finger in the battle of Gaines Mill. He participated in the battles of Manassas, Seven Pines, Fredricksburg, and others GA 14th Infantry, Co C Private" 1870 United States Federal Census (done on 1 July) in District 7, Marion, Tennessee, John (26, farmer, born Tennessee). Also Eliza MAYO (31, keeping house, born Tennessee) and Martha MAYO (4, born Tennessee). Previous entry is for brother Thomas and his wife. 1880 United States Federal Census: in District 7, Marion County, Tennessee (all MINTER all born Tennessee), John L (36, clerk c court), Elisa (24, wife, keeping house), Sam D (6, son), Robert F (4, son) and Walter S (2, son). Also Auguste ALEXANDER (black, male, 20, farm laborer). 1900 United States Federal Census: in Civil District 7, Marion County, Tennessee (all MINTER all born Tennessee), John L (born Apr 1842, 58, miller(?)), Eliza (wife, born Oct 1851, 48, married 27 years, 9 children 8 living), Walter S (son, born Feb 1879, 21, agent (RR)), Charles P (son born March 1884, 16, asst agent (RR)), James H (son, born Apr 1881, 19, farm laborer), Edward H (son, born May 1888, 12, at school), Lilly (daughter, born Apr 1890, 10, at school) and Herschal (son, born May 1896, 4). 1910 United States Federal Census: in Civil District 7, Marion County, Tennessee (all MINTER all born Tennessee), John L (69, married 36 years, farmer), Eliza A (wife, 56, married 36 years, 9 children 8 living) and H Herchel (son, 13).
