  Notes	It's an assumption that Leonard was Flora's illegitimate son. She had another in 1917 and died in Barnstaple, which was where Leonard spent much of his life. The birth certificate would settle the question but the following, which appeared in the North Devon Journal on 13 October 1938 in an announcement of Leonard's marriage, confirms it: 'Leonard Walter Minter, son of Mrs F C Thomas of Barton-lane, Braunton'. Flora had married Frank Thomas in 1919. 1939 Register: at Police Station, Parsonage Lane, Tiverton R.D., Devon Minter, Leonard W born 23 Mar 1913, married, police constable (DCC) Minter, Emma L born 7 June 1909, married, unpaid domestic duties WOODHAM, Amelia E born 9 Jul 1902, married, unpaid domestic --- 3 closed records --- July 2018, from James Earley: The Liverpool Echo, Wednesday July 22 1942 "A WOUNDED CONSTABLE BLACKPOOL YOUTH ON SHOOTING CHARGE When James Kilby, 17 years old soldier, whose home is in Blackpool, was charged at Tiverton, Devon, today, with attempting to murder Constable Leonard Walter Minter, and with arson, it was alleged that Kilby, who was near a blazing rick, threatened to shoot the officer. Minter advance with great courage and was shot in the leg. Mr D C M Nicholls, prosecuting, said that Kilby pointed a loaded Service rifle at Minter, exclaiming "You move, copper, and I will fire." Kilby pulled the trigger, it was alleged, but the safety catch was on. He repeated the threat, released the catch, and fired, the policeman dropping. (Proceeding)"
