William James Saxon was born to Henry Saxon and Ruth Acree Saxon in Ga. He grew up and married Caroline "Carrie" Laura Minter in Harris Co. Ga. on June 24, 1862. He was a school teacher in Loachapoka Ala. and later in Waverly, Ala. When Civil War came to Ala., he joined the Loachapoka Rifles (org. 1861). He was a 3nd Lt. in the fight, but was wounded and was honorably discharged and went back to Waverly, Alabama to teach again. He taught school until he died just 1 week shy of his 45 birthday. William was buried in the Waverly Cemetery, along with his parents, Henry and Ruth Saxon, and Williams wife, "Carrie", would follow him in death in 1926.
