I searched the whole of Brightlingsea without success - there were several Griggs families but not this one. 1871 census: in Hearst Green, Brightlingsea, Essex, Hazel (49, mariner), Ruth (46), William H (22, mariner), Emma J (13) and Agneta E (7, scholar). 1881 census: in Hearst Green, Brightlingsea, Essex, Hazell (59, master mariner) and Ruth (56). 1891 census: in Duke Green, Brightlingsea, Essex, Hazell (69, master mariner) and Ruth (66).
