| Notes |
- 1850 United States Federal Census, in District 46, Jasper, Georgia (all MINTER, born Georgia), Robert (30, farmer), Lucy Ann (21), James (1) and Frances (6 months).
Lucy Ann died in 1856 and Robert Minter married Sarah Jane STUE in 1857.
1860 United States Federal Census, in Jasper, Georgia (all MINTER, born Georgia), Robert (40, farmer), Sarah J (29), James W (11), Caroline (10), Mary J (8) and Robert J (4). Also Jane STEEL (60, born South Carolina).
I'm assuming that Frances (of 1850) and Caroline (of 1860) were the same person and that it was this Caroline Frances Minter who married James Knox POLK.
1870 United States Federal Census, in Gilstrap and Benton, Jasper, Georgia (all MINTER, born Georgia), Robert (50, farmer), Sarah J (39, keeping house), James W (21), Robert J (14*), Mary J (18), Sarah (9) and John A (2).
This image is very faint - most of the above is from Ancestry's transcription. * the age for Robert J is highly suspect - '14' seems to have been inked in over the original writing.
1880 United States Federal Census, in Martin and Burney, Jasper, Georgia (all MINTER, born Georgia), Robert (58, farmer), Sarah J (45, wife, keeping house), John A (12, son, laborer) and Ada E (7, daughter).
Robert died in 1886. I haven't found Sarah Jane in 1900 or later.
findagrave.com has the name as Robert Arthur Minter, and gives his burial at Jackson City Cemetery, Jackson, Butts County, Georgia. However, the following note, from son Robert's entry in the Reagan/Story/Hearn/Percy Family Tree at ancestry.com suggests otherwise:
"6371 Hwy 212 Monticello Ga - Small family cemetery on land owned by the Minters. 1st wife Melvinar and 2nd wife Sallie Andrews Minter are both buried there. Also Robert Minter and his wife Lucy A.Williams Minter buried their as well, & Saphronia E Williams, mother of Sally E.Minter"
This cemetery is the one known at findagrave.com as the Williams-Payne Cemetery.
