    Notes
    • Alfred's birth registration was the 'Male' registered at Elham in Q2 1857 (the enhanced GRO index shows mother's maiden name as GRIFFINS)

Alfred, 23, and brothers Robert, 21 and Frank, 20 appear in the 1880 US census in Harrison, Nemeha, Kansas. Alfred and Robert were described as farmers, Frank's occupation was 'works on farm'.

A law writer in Sydney, Australia according to 1890 'Sands Directory'.

The death on 15 May 1915 at Adelaide of an Alfred T Minter, aged 60, appears in the Digger - South Australian Death Registrations 1842 to 1915. No other details appear which might confirm that this death being of Alfred Thomas.
The 1915 death also appears at findagrave.com and in the Australian Cemeteries Index website. But both give the date of death as 18 May 1915; neither give any information which might confirm that this was the burial of Alfred T Minter from Folkestone. The burial was at the West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide, South Australia.

According to a family tree which appears in a book by George Warden Haines (John Minter's nephew), Alfred was a barrister and married a widow. The latter agrees with the information I have.
