In December 1905 Frederick was a fireman at 26 Cowick Road, Tooting, London. 1911 census: at 3 Grinstead Road, Deptford, London (4 rooms), Frederick (head, 35, married, lockgateman, Port of London Authority, worker, born Deptford, London), Ethel (wife, 25, married 6 years, 3 children all living, born Charing Cross, London), Winifred (daughter, 5, school, born Wandsworth, London), Alfred (son, 3, born Rotherhithe, London) and Frederick Thomas (son, 7 months, born Deptford, London). Form signed by Ethel Minter. Frederick was a victim of WW1. He was an AB, number 172760 aboard HMS Hogue. The following is from Wikipedia: Shortly after the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914, Hogue was assigned to the 7th Cruiser Squadron, tasked with patrolling the Broad Fourteens of the North Sea, in support of a force of destroyers and submarines based at Harwich which blocked the Eastern end of the Channel from German warships attempting to attack the supply route between England and France. Hogue was sunk in action on 22 September 1914. At 07:00, about 30 minutes after the action commenced, Hogue was struck by two torpedoes from U-9 as she attempted to rescue survivors from her sister ship. Aboukir. She sank within 15 minutes. Frederick is remembered on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
