In 1878 Papa (Grandfather was known by this name in the family)
was fifteen and living at 3 Princess St, Butt Road , Colchester. He took and passed
an exam for junior students set by Cambridge University. In the subjects of History,
Geography and Latin.
1881 census: as just 'A E Minter', aged 18, born Washbrook, Suffolk, Albert was an apprentice chemist with Henry Lugar at 38 High Street, Notting Hill, London.
In 1891 Albert, 27, was a chemist and druggist dispenser at the Royal Hampshire Hospital.

Grandfather was a Pharmacist and in the first war served with the Royal Navy and was Superintendent Bursar in Bighi Hospital Malta.
Albert is listed in the Navy List 'Medical Establishments' as a Dispenser between 1888 and 1923, by which time he had become a Superintending Pharmacist. (source ancestry.com).

On Feb 24 1951 at the Grange Nursing Home, Morden, Surrey, Albert Edward Minter, late of Worcester, Chatham and Malta, in his 88th year. Funeral at Bulmer, near Sudbury, Suffolk, tomorrow (Wednesday) at 12 noon.
