  Notes	1841 census: in Boxted (all ELMER, all born Essex), Dyer (50, ag lab), Lydia (40), Lydia (15 ag lab), John (15), Eliza (9), Sarah (4) and Henry (2). Although not shown as such Henry must have been the grandson who appears in 1851 - he was probably the Henry ELMER baptised in Boxted on 1 April 1839, illegitimate son of Mary ELMER, Boxted, servant (presumably Dyer's daughter). 1851 census: in Boxted, (all ELMER), Dyer (70, ag lab, born Boxford, Suffolk), Lydia (60, born Bures, Suffolk), John (son, 24, ag lab, born Boxted), Sarah (daughter, 14, scholar, born Boxted), Henry (12, grandson, scholar, born Boxted) and John (grandson, 9, scholar, born Boxted). As noted above, Henry was probably the Henry ELMER baptised in Boxted on 1 April 1839, illegitimate son of Mary ELMER, Boxted, servant. There is no Boxted baptism for a John ELMER about 1841/42 but for the time being his is assumed also to be Mary's illegitimate son. I can't establish what became of Mary. Dyer probably died in Q1 1853. His widow appears in the following 1861 census entry, which appears to be for a single household but is split over two pages: 1861 census: in Boxted, Amos PEACHEY (head, 25, ag lab, born Great Horkesley), Sarah PEACHEY (wife, 24, born Boxted), Rosannah PEACHEY (daughter, 4, scholar, born Boxted), Amos PEACHEY (son, age not readable, born Boxted). On the following page: Henry ELMER (lodger, 22, agricultural labourer, born Boxted), John ELMER (granson, 19, drover, born Boxted), Lydia ELMER (visitor, widow, 71, pauper, born Great Horkesley). The next entry is for John & Eliza Minter.
